ACTS OF VENGEANCE

Hailing from Hertfordshire, England, Acts of Vengeance delivers a ferocious blend of death, thrash, and heavy metal, drawing influence from legendary acts like Metallica, Slayer, Carcass, and Sepultura.

In 2024, Acts of Vengeance unleashed their latest EP, "Scars of War," showcasing a diverse array of thrash metal tracks. This release spans from the vampiric, gothic inspired "Baptised in Blood" to the hard-hitting exploration of contemporary geopolitical strife in the “Scars of War” title track. The previous year saw the band drop another brutal EP, "The Awakening," further cementing their reputation in the UK metal scene.

We took a look at their latest EP, ‘Scars of war’.

MOSH PIT HEAVEN

We begin with a short instrumental track ‘Throne of eternity’. The band use this as their live stage intro. The dual guitars play some beautiful melodic licks here which set us up nicely for the first full track of the EP ‘Baptised in blood’.

The guitar riffs here are immense. A lengthy intro shows off the versatility of the band and you can hear the metallica/slayer influence shining through here.

The chorus is incredibly catchy and is followed by a galloping riff that keeps you banging your head.

The guitar parts are not only technical but the solo is full of emotion, then we’re straight back into the ‘punch you in the face’ riffs.

It’s hard to pick a favourite part of this track as there are so many great guitar pieces, it makes you want to go back and experience them again.

COMPOSITION AND VOCALS ARE ON TOP LEVEL!

We moved onto the next track, ‘Empathy’. This one is mosh pit heaven, an aggresive song, pure raw metal at its finest. With this track I can see some comparisons to bands like Kreator, which is certainly a compliment!

Scars of War’, the title tack starts off with an almost metal ballad feel. The tempo is slowed down which draws attention to the quality of the recording. Simple but powerful riffs behind the shredding guitar parts leave them imprinted in your head.

The final song on the EP' ‘Skulls of the fallen’ is another heavy hitter. The drums on this track really come to the forefront with some fantastic, technical fills. The drums really emphasise the brutal riffs, add the catchy chorus an this track is bound to be a hit with fans.
