Described as “trying to bring metal back to its ass kicking roots, lamb of god mixed with pantera mixed with Metallica, DESCENT hailing from Dallas, Texas are ready to rip the current trends to shreds and bring you some old school in your face brutality, no excuses, no math problems, just metal.” We like the sound of that!

Today we checked out their track ‘Paper Cut Throat’. It’s clear in the early section of this track that these guys have a groove that is unrelenting. The riffs combine with the drums to create an almost surreal atmosphere mashing up all styles of metal but it works so well!

A thunderous double bass firework hammers relentlessly on the ears like a jackhammer. The razor-sharp thrash riffs fit seamlessly into this power of sound and create a frenzied dynamic. But it's the angry growl vocals that complete the song: With a deep, merciless rumble. Brutality at its best.

BRUTALITY COMBINED WITH CATCHY MELODIES

Despite all the heaviness, the band surprises again and again with catchy melodies that make the song a real catchy tune.

The vocalist really shines on this song, demonstrating his versatility adapting to the different styles of metal on display.
