Phantom State

Phantom State are a metalcore band hailing from Birmingham, Uk. Formed in 2019, they’ve released multiple singles since inception as well as one album back in 2021.

Released in November 2024, “The Drift” is the latest offering from the quintet which we’ll be covering today!

Diving straight in, we’re off with an electric pace, kicking things off with a ferocious energy that immediately grabs your attention. A powerful guttural growl helps impose the brutality of the opening riff, setting the tone for what’s to come. The intensity then gives way to a more measured drive, allowing the song to breathe while still maintaining its weight and aggression which lead into a great anthemic chorus.

The vocals truly stand out as a highlight, with the vocalist delivering an exceptional range of harsh vocals that are raw, commanding, and full of emotion. The chorus takes things even further, blending in cleans that contrast beautifully against the heaviness of the instrumentals. Unlike most of the genre, these clean vocals feel unique, adding a unique element to the track. It’s a relentless yet well-crafted assault on the senses, packed with character and depth.
