Kaosis
I’ve known about this band for a while but I never got round to writing a review about them so here goes! Kaosis are a nu metal band from New Zealand fusing a wide range of genres in their music creating a completely unique sound while also featuring some legends on the nu metal scene (more on that later!) Now at the time I started writing this, one of the tracks was fairly new but there’s been a few releases since so apologies it’s not the newest release from the oceanic group.
Legends of the Nu Metal scene?
So I mentioned this earlier, they have a whole host of tracks featuring members from a wide range of bands from Static-X and Slipknot to Skindred and One Minute Silence. As you may have figured out from my posts on here and tiktok I’m a big fan of One Minute Silence so when the vocalist was on a new track I had to dive. This is “Over This”
Now, not only does this captivating piece feature Yap from One Minute Silence, but it also includes Cristian Machado , who was formerly part of the underrated band Ill Nino as well as TRAUMA from Hed PE.. The accompanying video exudes a distinct cyberpunk vibe, perfectly complementing the sound of the track, which incorporates turntables and showcases some fantastic riffs right from the very beginning. XEN, the vocalist, demonstrates an incredible range throughout the song, effortlessly transitioning from harsh vocals to cleaner tones, which is prominently on display in this particular track. He is further supported by Cristian Machado, renowned for his impressive unclean vocal style, making this an excellent way to introduce the band to listeners like myself. As the track nears its conclusion, we are treated to Yap, who skillfully bridges the song with his compelling slam poetry, elegantly finishing with a truly memorable and anthemic chorus.
The way I am
Now this was the “new” track to me, but I must admit that I’m a little out of date with the latest releases, so I sincerely apologize for that oversight. We’ll definitely be making it a priority to listen to the newer tracks released by Kaosis! This particular track does not feature any special guests, allowing the band to showcase their impressive talent and high-quality musicianship, which continues to build upon the iconic sound that we first heard in “Over This.” XEN consistently demonstrates his ability to deliver both exceptional clean vocals in the chorus and powerful harsh vocals in the surrounding sections, creating a beautiful contrast. The riffs continue to pound through the entirety of the track, and the addition of turntables adds a layer of complexity to maintain that signature sound that Kaosis is effortlessly displaying. It is undoubtedly another excellent track that deserves a spot on your playlist!
Kaosis seem to be going from strength to strength with some of the newer releases I’m seeing being a slightly heavier tone to it so we’ll definitely be checking that out and you should too! Give these guys some support and check them out on all socials and spotify!
