Year in Review: Our Top 3 Favourite Artists.

Crazy to think it’s almost been a year of Headbanger HQ from very early beginnings with limited following to now getting 40000 page visits a month, it’s been an exciting journey and we can’t thank you all enough for sharing our page and giving us the love and the motivation to continue doing this site. We do this site all for free (bar our Fiverr page) so we don’t see a return of what we invest but we do it for the love of finding new music.

Shameless plug I know!

We’ve reviewed a lot of bands in the short space of time and we will continue to review new and upcoming bands no matter how early the project is. If you have new releases, don’t forget to share them with us we’d love to post our review of your latest offerings and get the word out on some great unsigned music.

We’ve a lot of bands to review, and our resident Craigo has had even more on his channel! https://www.youtube.com/@letsgocraigo

Now with my intro over, I’d like to discuss some of my personal favourite acts that I have reviewed in the past year. Now I don’t want to dishearten anyone as this was a very tough choice to make there has been some absolute classics shown to us to review with many on own personal playlists on repeat, which reminds me I need to update the HeadbangerHQ playlist apologies! Anyways, here’s my top 3 acts we’ve covered this year.

Where are you hiding?

  1. GNAWING HUNGER

We covered Gnawing Hunger very early in our existence in July with their single “Insidious” which was an absolute classic and if you haven’t heard it you really need to go and listen to it on repeat. The track starts with an intense opening riff into Mark’s fantastic vocals which opens the song up perfectly only getting better as it progresses, this wasn’t the only song we covered as we delved into their existing archive with “The Great Illusion” another great track.

If you get the chance, go see them live (and make us incredibly jealous) we hope to see them in the near future but if you’re in the area they have a show on this weekend details below!

Pain as a face Allow me to show It to you

2. PRIMORDIAL BLACK

Another band we listened to early in HeadbangerHQ inception, Primordial Black shared with us their debut EP “Monas Hieroglyphica” and it didn’t disappoint. The first track we listened to was “The Worm That Gnaws at Night” and it was an instant add to the playlist. I should preface that death metal is not typically my scene but these boys are bringing something different with their slow paced melodic serenade. It was impossible to pick fault with this track, it had everything, quick tempo riff, great lead in the chorus and powerful bass tone throughout a exceptional way to introduce yourself to new listeners.

We’ve noticed they’ve released a new track this year which we’ll be sure to dive in and give a review over our site when we’ve had a good listen (or ten) but these guys are bringing something to everyone’s taste, here’s the video to The Worm That Gnaws at Night

Recollect, i was so young and naive, ignorant and bold

3. KINGSEEKER

Last but not least, we have KINGSEEKER. Now this was an album and half! We were asked to cover their sophomore release “Pressing Moments Caught Forever” and wow what an incredibly well done album this is. This was also early days at HBHQ and we didn’t expect this level of musicianship or vocals but this album blew us away. From “Young&Naive” which perfectly shows Jan’s range in vocal delivery, to “Bad Vibes are Cancelled” in the aggression and good old fashioned hardcore, Kingseeker need to be on your playlist.

Recently, the band did announce that two of it’s members were pursuing other work, so their on the lookout for a bassist and drummer but I’m sure they’ll be back with some more melodic masterpieces soon. Just to highlight' Jan’s range, here’s a one took video from their youtube channel of “Young&Naive”

As ever, continue to support all the bands we feature on our site and if you can get down to see their live shows I’m sure they will not disappoint. Keep supporting independent music and let us know on our socials who we should cover next!
